  • Congratulations to Latta 4-H members who competed in the 3rd Annual Pontotoc County 4-H Dutch Oven Cooking Showdown yesterday at the Agri-Plex.

    Latta was represented by 2 teams this year in the County Contest.   Dutch Oven 1st--Makenna Howell, Cal Reeves, and Cole Wollenberg received 1st Place Dessert with Peach Cobbler, 1st Place Side Dish with Corn Bread, 1st place Main Dish with Jambalaya and 1st Place Overall.  Simon Hamilton, Andrew Morrow, and Thomas Morrow received  2nd Place Dessert with Cherry Cobbler, 3rd Place Side Dish with Bread Sticks, 2nd Place Main Dish with Taco Soup and 2nd Place Overall.  

  • Congratulations to Abi LaValley and Kendra Hisaw for making Slow Pitch All State.
  • Congratulations to the following students for being a 2018 GE Summer Science Academy Nominee:  Darren Van Atten, Bailey Howe, Elizabeth Crawford, Josh Murray, Lawson Lancaster.  These students have been nominated to attend the 2018 GE Summer Science Academy at OSSM's Oklahoma City Campus from July 22-July 27. There they will be able to participate in exciting, advanced classes taught by OSSM's faculty and alumni.  They will also be able to participate in an engineering challenge and attend special presentations from engineers at Baker-Hughes/GE.  We are very proud of these students!
  • Congratulations to our MS Academic Team! They won 3rd place in the Class B Division at the OJABA State Tournament on Saturday!  Team members include:  Josh Murray, Lawson Lancaster, Carter Hanson, Kale Williams, Elizabeth Crawford, Connor Rakes, Shawn London, Kaycee Cagle, Kyndal Schlup, Lincoln Estes and Noah Hinson.

  • Congratulations to the MS Academic Team!!! They are the OJABA Regional Champions and will be competing in the OJABA State Competition in April. Team members include: Josh Murray, Kale Williams, Elizabeth Crawford, Carter Hanson, Connor Rakes, Lawson Lancaster, Shawn London, Kaycee Cagle, Lincoln Estes, Kyndall Schlup and Noah Hinson.

  • Congratulations to Cooper Hardison who participated in the Ada Elks Hoop Shoot in December.  He won the Ada Elks Hoop Shoot by shooting a perfect 25/25 free-throws.  This win sent him to the Southeast Elks District Hoop Shoot in Durant, OK on Jan. 13.  Cooper won the competition as well making 22/25 free-throws.  This win qualified him for the Elks Hoop Shoot State Tournament in Sapulpa, OK on Feb. 3, 2018.  He competed against winners from the four quadrants of the state.  Cooper won the State Tournament after making 21/25 free-throws and winning by 3 shots.  He will compete in another area hoop shoot on March 16 and 17th in Dallas, TX.  He will be shooting against State Champions from Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana.  The winner will get to go to the National Finals Hoop Shoot in Chicago, IL on April 21, 2018.  Emma Hardison also won the Ada Elks Hoop Shoot in December hitting 18/25 in the 10-11 year old division.  She also competed in the Southeast Elks District Hoop Shoot in Durant, OK on Jan. 13.  She tied for first but was defeated in a shoot off by 1 shot.
  • Congratulations to the following Regional STAR Event winners:  1st-Daisy Yanez--Focus on Children, 1st-Caroline Skaggs & Hayley Williams--Promote & Publicize-senior category, 2nd-Hope Wear--Promote & Publicize-junior category.  Each one advances to compete at the State level.
  • Congratulations to the following Latta High School Pontotoc Technology Center students who earned perfect attendance for the months of December and January:  Jake Allen, Leigh Davidson, Rayna Ellison, Katelyn Kindrick, Weston Cunningham, Bret Bynum, Madisyn Lyons.  
  • Congratulations to Hunter Claborn, who recently obtained his Commercial Driver's License while participating in Pontotoc Technology Center's Heavy Equipment Operator program.
  • Congratulations to Marko Charqueno, who recently received his certification for PC Pro through the Information Technology program at PTC.

  • Congratulations to Latta 4-H.  They was well represented at the State Air Rifle/Pistol Shoot this past weekend in Shawnee.    Clayton Hayes and Brayden Hill were members of the State 4-H 1st Place Intermediate Air Rifle Team.    Simon Hamilton and Jaxon Austin were members of the State 4-H placing Junior Air Rifle Team.    Also representing Latta at the State 4-H Air Rifle/Pistol Contest were:  Preston Smith and Kervon James.
  • Congratulations to the MS academic team! They won 2 of their 3 district tournament games at Vanoss yesterday. They will be competing in the regional tournament in February. Players include:  Josh Murray, Kale Williams, Lawson Lancaster, Carter Hanson, Connor Rakes, Elizabeth Crawford, Shawn London, Kaycee Cagle, Lincoln Estes, Noah Hinson and Kyndall Schlup.
  • Congratulations to the Middle School Academic Team!  They finished their conference season undefeated...17-0!  They came in first place in their conference and they won first place in their conference tournament Saturday.  They will be competing in their district competition in January.  Members include:  Kale WilliamsLawson LancasterJosh MurrayConnor RakesCarter HansonElizabeth CrawfordShawn LondonKaycee CagleLincoln EstesKyndall SchlupNoah Hinson.  
  • Congratulations District Star Events participants:  1st place Cassidy Miller – Creed Speaking, 1st place Natalee Richardson and Kaycee Reeves – Life Event Planning, 2nd place Kaleigh Russell – Recycle and Redesign, 2nd place Brylea Russell and Hailey Baber – Life Event Planning, 2nd place Shawn London – Cake Decorating. 
  • Congratulations:  Xavier Hamilton and Noah Hinson made All-OCDA J.H. Mixed All-State Chorus.  Bailey Howe and Elizabeth Crawford made All-OCDA J.H. Mixed All-State Chorus.

Players include:  Lawson Lancaster Josh Murray, Kale Williams, Carter Hanson, Connor Rakes, Elizabeth Crawford, Kaycee Cagle, Shawn London, Noah Hinson, Lincoln Estes and Kyndal Schlup .
  • Congratulations to the Middle School Academic Team! They won all 5 of their games at the Four-Stars Round Robin Tournament on Friday! They are currently undefeated in their conference league.  They will be competing in another Round Robin Tournament at Latta this Friday. Players include:  Lawson Lancaster, Josh Murray, Kale Williams, Elizabeth Crawford, Carter Hanson, Connor Rakes, Kaycee Cagle, Shawn London, Kyndal Schlup, Lincoln Estes, Noah Hinson.  
  • Latta 4-H members participated on Pontotoc County Shooting Sports teams in the Oklahoma 4-H State Trap Shoot Saturday at the Oklahoma Trap Shooters Range near El Reno.  Members on the 5th place State Junior Trap Team were:  Dylan Hayes and Simon HamiltonD.T. Wyche, Lane Priest, Clayton Hayes and Cole Wollenberg completed on the Intermediate Team. Tyler Perez competed on the Senior Team.  Congratulations to these Latta 4-H members.
