District Information
Latta Public School is a rural school of nearly 900 students in Grades PK-12 located outside the city limits of Ada. Latta serves a student body of approximately 45 percent Caucasian, 48 percent Native American, and 2 percent other. About 50 percent of these students are eligible for free or reduced lunches.
The district has built a reputation for academic success over the past 10 years and has received recognition at both the local and state levels. Oklahoma's Academic Performance Index ranks schools in the state based on standardized state testing.
Latta's academic course offerings include the American College Testing program's core subject recommendations for college admission. Advanced placement courses are offered in English and social studies. Honors classes are offered in physics, chemistry, trigonometry and calculus. Latta students are offered vocational programs in Family Consumer Sciences, Agriculture, and Applied Trades. Students may attend the Pontotoc Technology Center or pursue college coursework through concurrent enrollment at East Central University.
Classrooms and computer labs provide teachers and students with high speed Internet access and up-to-date computers. Projectors and Interwrite Pads enhance the instructional learning process within the classroom. Junior high and high school students are provided with network logins and server storage to save their class files.
