CONCURRENT SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

This information is for students who will be high school juniors and seniors in the coming semesters. This includes current high school seniors and juniors who want to take courses in the Spring 2026 semester, as well as high school juniors and sophomores who want to take courses beginning in the Fall 2026 semester.

Students who meet the minimum requirements for concurrent enrollment may be able to complete hours at NSU at no charge, depending on their Tribal affiliation.

In addition to the tuition waiver that is provided by the state (up to 9 hours for qualifying juniors and up to 18 hours for qualifying seniors), many Native American students in Oklahoma also have access to concurrent scholarships that may cover all or part of their books and fees. I have compiled a spreadsheet with as many Tribal concurrent funding opportunities as I could find in Oklahoma. It is current as of August 2025. If you have updated information that does not match the spreadsheet, please let me know!

Also, please let your students know that if they take even one concurrent class at NSU during their junior or senior year, they will already be admitted as incoming freshmen.

INFORMATION FOR GRADUATING SENIORS

This information is for seniors who are graduating and plan to enter school as incoming freshmen in the Fall 2026 semester.

There are many external scholarships available to Native American students, and several of these open this month. Please let your promising students know that they should not wait to begin their applications for scholarships. In addition to the Tribal scholarships that many of them will be eligible for, I am including a flyer with some of the bigger outside scholarships and their closing dates.

WE ARE HERE TO HELP

We are available any time to help students with their questions about scholarships, planning for college, and how to succeed on campus here at NSU. Please feel free to reach out to me or to our main staff email - tribalstudies@nsuok.edu.
