Latta FFA Advisor and Ag teacher Seth Reeves wrote the FFA grant and developed the program to address the need for water conservation in our area and the potential for rainwater harvesting. Of the 77 National FFA Organization “Living to Serve” environmental awards granted in 2014, Latta FFA was one of only two in the state of Oklahoma. The grant entitled, “Latta FFA: Used Water Dealer,” was announced by the National FFA organization on September 18, 2014. The Latta FFA Chapter has since installed its rainwater harvesting system and held a public program on rainwater harvesting on Oct 23, 2014. A second public event to present its findings is scheduled for March 24 at the Latta High School Agriculture Building at 13925 County Road 1560 in Ada.
At the national level, program sponsorship and assistance has been provided by CSX Corporation and the National FFA Organization and at local level by Elite Tank,
